Kitchen, Dining & Living Room

Open concept layouts are one we know and love, especially with little kiddos running around. But the challenge, how to define 3 different spaces in 1 room while making it look cohesive, modern and comfortable. The key is start with a tight color palette - in this case, black, white, grey, blue. The black and white kitchen creates a clean and timeless base while the grey and blue in the dining and living, layer in some warmth. When trying to create 3 “rooms” in 1 space, a way of clearly outlining each space is using area rugs - they keep sight lines open but creates definition within the larger room.

Man Cave

A Man Cave can very easily get tacky and kitschy but this space needed to be classic and sophisticated while still showcasing all of the sports things. We started with natural textures of wood and leather to make the space feel warm yet masculine. And then layered in a pop of color, red for a nod to his sports teams. Again, keeping the color palette tight, allows for a cohesive space. For the walls, there was a lot of memorabilia to showcase so framing everything in a simple, clean, black frame, gives continuity and purpose to a space that could otherwise be chaotic.

Bathrooms - Powder Room

Powder rooms or half bathrooms are usually small spaces but this allows you to make big statements without as much risk - insert bold wallpaper here. Making a statement with some interesting wallpaper, whether a bold pattern/ color or one with a little humor, a powder room is the perfect place for it! Also, think about negative space in a small bath - the floating vanity allows for a larger sink but isn’t taking up any floor space giving the room the sense its larger than it actutally is.

Bathrooms - Full Bathrooms

In this space, we wanted to figure out how to bring the washer/ dryer upstairs into the hallway bathroom instead of the basement. We ended up stealing from the hallway closet and opening the space up to get a double vanity and the washer dryer into this room. In addition, we added a pocket door to separate the laundry space from the toilet/ shower area. This allows for multiple people to use the space at one time - no need to wait for someone to finish in the shower before you can switch over your load of laundry.
